Rainbow Hat

This is a very simple hat that can be worn by everyone. I intentionally made 7 sizes so that there is one for everybody.You can work this one in less than an hour. It's fast and fun to make. Plus it is in Rainbow Colors!

I intentionally want to use all Red Heart with Love yarns, but I realized that Evergreen is just "too green" for this ensemble and decided to used my stash yarn and found a Red Heart Super Saver that is not too greeny. It doesn't have its label anymore, but I think it's Paddy Green. And also added some Light Pink also in Super Saver.

You can actually use any worsted yarn for this hat, regardless of bran.  As long as it is worsted or medium or #4 yarn.

R1.  With Color B make a Magic Ring, CH 2 and into the ring crochet 12 DC. Closed the ring tightly, Change to Color A and join with a slip stitch in the first stitch. (12 DC)

R2.  CH1, 2 SC in each stitch all the way around.  Change to Color D and join with a slip stitch in the first stitch. (24 SC)

R3.  CH2, 1 DC in first stitch and 2 DC in next. * 1 DC in the next stitch, and 2 DC in next* repeat all the way around, change to Color A and join with a slip stitch in the first stitch. (36 DC)

R4. CH1, 1 SC in the first 8 stitches, 2 SC in next. * 1 SC in each of the next 8 stitches, 2 SC in the next stitch.* Repeat all the way around, change to Color E and join with a slip stitch in the first stitch. (40 SC)

R5.  CH2, 1 DC in the first 9 stitches, 2 DC in next. * 1 DC in each of the next 9 stitches, 2 DC in the next stitch.* Repeat all the way around, change to Color A and join with a slip stitch in the first stitch. (44 DC)

R6.  CH1, 1 SC in each stitch all the way around. Change to Color F and join with a slip stitch in the first stitch. (44 SC)

R7.  CH2, 1 DC in each stitch all the way around. Change to Color A and join with a slip stitch in the first stitch. (44 DC)

R8.  CH1, 1 SC in each stitch all the way around. Change to Color G and join with a slip stitch in the first stitch. (44 SC)

R9.  CH2, 1 DC in each stitch all the way around. Change to Color A and join with a slip stitch in the first stitch. (44 DC)

Harvest Time Cable Hat

If you are afraid to try cables, don't be. I know that if you just take time even a beginner can pull it off. It looks so intimidating but once you got the hang of it, you'll be flying in colors. It's a surprise to me how fast it is to make. It is usually a repeat of rows and it creates beautiful cables. So give it a try and take your time at first, you will soon fall in love with cables.

This is my second Cable Hat. The first one was quite popular that is why I am making another one. The first one was made by a local yarn here in the Philippines. So this time I choose a yarn that is available to everybody. I am in love with Red Heart yarns, it's been my favorite since. So here is my new cabled hat, hope you'll all like it and give it a try. 

Materials

• Red Heart Soft in Wheat
• H/5.00 mm Crochet Hook
• Tapestry Needle
• Scissors
• Pompom Maker or some Faux Fur

Instructions

Ribbing

Row 1.  CH 9, HDC in the 2^nd CH from the hook. HDC in each stitch till the end. CH 1 and turn. (8 HDC)

Row 2-40.  HDC in each stitch all the way till the end in the BLO. CH 1 and turn except for the last row. (8 HDC)

With regards to the length of your ribbing, it depends upon your head, but usually, for an adult, it is between 21-22 inches. My ribbing reaches almost 22 inches with 40 rows of HDC in BLO. It may vary so measure up correctly for a snug and comfortable hat.

Join both ends of your ribbing with slip stitching both ends together. Do not cut your yarn after you slip stitch each stitch together. Just turn to the right side of your ribbing and CH 1.

Body of the Hat

Round 1.   SC a multiple of 11 around your ribbing. For this pattern, I squeeze in 88 SC all the way around. Then join with a slip stitch in first SC. ( 88 SC)

Round 2.  CH 2, DC in each stitch all the way around. Join with a slip stitch in first DC (88 DC)

Round 3.  CH 2, DC in the first stitch. * FPDC in the next stitch, DC in next and FPDC in next stitch. DC in the next stitch and skip 3 stitches, then FPTC in the next 3 stitches, FPTC also back to the 3 skipped stitches, then DC into the next unworked stitch.* Repeat this pattern all the way around and join with a slip stitch in first DC. ( 88 Stitches)

Round 4.  CH 2, DC in the first stitch. * FPDC in the next stitch, DC in next and FPDC in the next stitch. DC in the next stitch, FPDC in the next 6 stitches and DC in the next stitch.* Repeat this pattern all the way around and join with a slip stitch in first DC. ( 88 Stitches)

Round 5.  CH 2, DC in the first stitch. * Skip the next 2 stitches and FPTC in the next stitch, DC back to the last skipped stitch and FPTC to the first skipped stitch. DC in the next stitch and FPDC in the next 6 stitches and DC in the next stitch.* Repeat this pattern all the way around and join with a slip stitch in first DC. (88 Stitches)

Round 6. Repeat Round 4.

Round 7. Repeat Round 3.

Round 8.  Repeat Round 4.

Round 9. Repeat Round 5.

Round 10-13. Repeat Rounds 6-9.

By Round 14 we will begin our decreases, but if you want to make this hat to be slouchy you can continue on repeating Round 6 to 9.

Round 14. CH 2, DC in the first stitch. * FPDC in the next stitch, Skip the next stitch and FPDC in the next stitch. DC in the next stitch, FPDC in the next 6 stitches and DC in the next stitch.* Repeat this pattern all the way around and join with a slip stitch in first DC. ( 80 Stitches)

Round 15.  CH 2, skip the first stitch. * FPDC in the next stitch, FPDC in next stitch. Skip the next stitch and skip 3 stitches, then FPTC in the next 3 stitches, FPTC also back to the 3 skipped stitches, then skip the next unworked stitch.* Repeat this pattern all the way around and join with a slip stitch in first DC. (64 Stitches)

Round 16. CH 2,  FPDC2gdr in the first 2 stitches. * FPDC in the next 6 stitches, FPDC2gdr in the next two* Repeat this pattern all the way around and join with a slip stitch in first DC. (56 Stitches)

Round 17.  CH 2, FPDC in the first stitch. *FPDC2gdr in the next, FPDC in next stitch. FPDC2gdr in the next and FPDC in next. FPDC also in the next stitch. * Repeat this pattern all the way around and join with a slip stitch in first DC. (40 Stitches)

Leave a long tail enough to cinch the hat closed. Make your pompom and attached it to your hat or you can add a faux fur if you like.  

Weave all ends and your hat is done.
