Summer Beach Bag

It's a Beach Bag that is full of Yarns! haha. Why not? There is nothing I can think of when I am at the beach, I'd probably just crochet. Watching the kids swim and me just relaxing and crocheting by the shore. Ah! Perfect life! And this is the perfect bag for that moment.

This bag is perfect for anything, this can be a Market Bag also. And the slings are adjustable to your size and liking. The Philippines has been on a scorching heat since March already. Summer here is almost all year round. This week we are experiencing 30-35 degrees Celsius heat but it feels like 50 degrees! It's way too hot to stay under the sun. So I just stay inside and crochet! ;)
So instead of going to the beach, I went into the woods for this one. hahaha.

The lighting in my pictures doesn't do much justice on the color of the hat. It's Red Heart Soft in Lemon and it should be a brighter color compared to this picture below.

Marlet Clutch Bag

Mother's day is just around the corner. So before the Month of May starts I'll share is beautiful Clutch Bag so perfect for Mother's Day. I made this out of the scrap yarns,  and since they are different types of yarn, the end result varies in sizes. But most are in Red Heart Super Saver and those made out of RHSS end up in the size, 9x5 inch.

The stitches are simple and easy to make, a combination of Front/back Post-Single Crochets and Double crochets. It creates a beautiful textured finished.  You can add a sling to it if you want it to be a sling bag or a handbag.

I added a zipper to it also for closure. I hand stitched the zipper because every time I run my crochet items in the sewing machine it gets destroyed, so I painstakingly sew them by hand. Literally, in PAIN, I got poke by the needle so many times. But a zipper is what it needs so a zipper it gets! Just for the love of my craft!

Most of the yarns I used are Red Heart Super Saver and a few RH with love. But I could not remember the color anymore for these are scraps. I lost all the tags. You can experiment with colors with this one. You can even make this in one color only.

Materials
  • Acrylic Yarn ( Red Heart Super Saver)
  • H/5.00mm Crochet hook
  • Zipper
  • Tapestry Needle
  • Sewing Needle for sewing the Zipper
  • Scissors

  • DC - Double Crochet
  • FPSC - Front Post Single Crochet
  • BPSC - Back Post Single Crochet

Gauge

  • From Round 4 to Round 10 = 2 inches
  • 9 DC stitches = 2 inches

Notes:

  • If you want your bag to be bigger or longer just add more rounds and more starting Chains
  • I finished this bag with a crab stitch on the last row. If you are not comfortable with it then you can just use Single Crochet all the way. For Crab Stitch/ Reversed Single Crochet Tutorial just click the link.
  • Beginning CH 1 is NOT counted as a stitch.
  • Beginning CH 2 is NOT counted as a stitch.

Instructions

R1. CH 26, 2 SC in the 2nd CH from the hook. 1 SC in each of the next 23 stitches, 5 SC in the last stitch. Working on the other side of the Chains already, 1 SC in each of the next 23 stitches, and 3 SC in the last stitch. Do not join, continue to work in rounds. (56 SC)

R21.  CH 1, Crab Stitch or Reversed SC in each stitch all the way around until the end. Join with a slip stitch in the first stitch. (76 CS)
