Blue Bag

One of my favorite things to crochet are bags, aside from hats. As you may have noticed already that this blog is full of Bag and Hats pattern. But mind you, I will still make more. :)

This one here is one of my favorite bags. I've used this already almost every day to work. It would be wonderful if I have access to those beautiful yarns that are intended for bag making, it would surely make my bags life longer. So if you have those kinds of yarns, use it for this one. Also, line your bags, it helps a lot to line your bag.

I don't know what to name this bag, so as simple as it is I named it "BLUE BAG" but you can make this with another color. ;)

Materials:

  • Medium Yarn #4- (I used RH with Love in Blue Hawaii for this bag)
  • H/5.00mm Crochet Hook
  • Scissors
  • Cloth for Lining
  • Tapestry Needle
Terms Used
  • Ch(s) - Chain(s)
  • SC - Single Crochet
  • PS - Puff Stitch
  • Puff Stitches(PS) – With a loop on the hook, *yarn over once and insert hook into the indicated stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop*. Repeat this process 4 times. If you want puffier Puff Stitch you can do it 5 times. Yarn over and pull through all loops.

Notes:
  • Starting Chains are not counted as a stitch
  • As much as possible make you Puff Stitches in the same height
  • For the Bottom of the Bag, Make 2 for a sturdier bottom, you can even insert some canvass between the two if you want to.
  • Working with the Bottom of the Bag, at the end of each row, do not join with a slip stitch, continue to work on rounds.

Instructions
Bottom of the Bag (Make 2)
Round 1. CH 28, 2 SC in the 2nd CH from the hook, 1 SC in each of the next 26 CHs, and 5 SC on the last stitch. Then working on the other side of the Starting Chains, 1 SC in each of the next 26 CHs and 3 SC into the last CH. Do not join and continue to work in rounds. ( 62 SC)

Round 2. 2 SC in each of the first 2 stitches, 1 SC in the next 26 stitches. 2 SC in each of the next 5 stitches, and 2 SC in each of the last 3 stitches. (72 SC)

Round 3. 1 SC in the first stitch, 2 SC in the next. 1 SC in the next and 2 SC in next. 1 SC in the next 26 stitches. * 1 SC in the next and 2 SC in next * Repeat 5 times. 1 SC in the next 26 stitches. * 1 SC in the next and 2 SC in next * Repeat 3 times. (82 SC)

Round 4.1 SC in the first 2 stitches, 2 SC in next.  1 SC in the next 2 stitches, 2 SC in next. 1 SC in the next 26 stitches. * 1 SC in the next 2 stitches and 2 SC in next * Repeat 5 times. 1 SC in the next 26 stitches. * 1 SC in the next 2 stitches and 2 SC in next * Repeat 3 times. (92 SC)

Round 5. 1 SC in the first 3 stitches, 2 SC in next.  1 SC in the next 3 stitches, 2 SC in next. 1 SC in the next 26 stitches. * 1 SC in the next 3 stitches and 2 SC in next * Repeat 5 times. 1 SC in the next 26 stitches. * 1 SC in the next 3 stitches and 2 SC in next * Repeat 3 times. (102 SC)

For the first one you made, fasten off and weave in ends. And for the 2nd one, do not fasten off, continue to work for the main Body of the Bag.

Join the two Bottom together facing together the Wrong Side. Then Proceed to Round 6.

The body of the Bag
Round 6.  SC together both Round 5 of the Bottom of the bag to join them, this is the right time to insert a canvass if you want an even sturdier bottom. At the end of the round. Join with a slip stitch on the first stitch. (102 SC)

Round 7. CH1, SC in the first stitch. *CH1, skip a stitch and SC in the next stitch* Repeat this all the way around until the end, then join with a slip stitch in the first stitch.  (51 SC and 51 CH1 spaces)

Round 8. Slip stitch into the first SC, Slip stitch again into the CH1 space. Pull the working loop up to the height of your puff stitch, maybe same as a DC height. *Make a PS into the CH 1 space, then CH 1* Repeat this until the end, ending with a CH1. Join with a slip stitch on top of the first PS. ( 51 PS)
Round. 9. CH1, and SC in the same stitch. SC in each PS and in each CH1 spaces. At the end make sure to make a SC on that last CH1 space. Count your stitch and make sure you still have 102 SC, because we started with slip stitches on Round 8, sometimes on Round 9 you’ll have a less SC. Make sure that it is 102 SC to make your bag straight. Join with a slip stitch in the first stitch. (102 SC)

Repeat Round 7, 8 and 9 until you will have 10 rounds of Round 8 (Puff Stitches ) or until Round 36.

Round 37-38. CH1, 1 SC in each stitch. Join with a slip stitch in the first stitch. (102 SC)

Fasten off and weave all ends.

As for the handle I used the same technique with my Solid Granny Square Mini Bag

Cherry Cloche

Wow, it been so long! It was such a long break and I thought I can't go back anymore. But here I am with a new pattern. For the days(months) that I was away, I was able to make some pattern actually but I don't think those pattern will be published. This one right now is my latest one and I decided to share this to all of you guys. I hope you are still here and would enjoy this pattern.

This hat is perfect as the cold season starts. I find this hat very pretty, I like the kind of yarn I was using for this one. It's a Sweet Roll by Primer yarns. But you can use any brand of yarn as long as it has the same size or weight- Medium #4 Worsted.

So here it is, happy crocheting...

Materials
  • Acrylic Yarn (Medium #4)
  • H(5.0mm) Crochet Hook
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry Needle
  • Stitch Markers

Terms Used:
  • CH(s) – Chain(s)
  • SC – Single Crochet
  • DC – Double Crochet

From Newborn to Adult Approximate Circumference
