Alex Beanie

This beanie is very cozy because it's made of Half Double Crochets just in time for this coming cold days. This is easy to make but really looks beautiful also because all the stitches are done in the 3rd loop of the previous round. The small "v" shapes it creates makes it look like knitted or it looks like chains wrapped around your head.

I've already tried to make all my patterns wearable to everyone, from Children to Adult. So this hat is also available in 4 sizes, from Toddler to Adult.

Materials
  • Red Heart Soft
  • H/5.00mm crochet Hook
  • Stitch Markers
  • Scissors
  • Beads/button
  • Tapestry Needle

Terms Used
  • CH(s) - Chain(s)
  • SC - Single Crochet
  • HDC - Half Double Crochet
  • FPDC - Front Post Double Crochet
  • BPDC - Back Post Double Crochet

Difficulty - Beginner to Intermediate because of the post stitches. If you know the post stitches, this hat is easy peasy.

Sizes - Toddler to Adult

  2. Hello. I love this hat and I want to make it for a newborn. Can you break the pattern down so it’s smaller than toddler size or should I just try smaller hook and lighter weight yarn?

    1. Hi, for smaller than toddler ( 0-10 mos old) just stop at Round 5 and proceed to Round 7 and continue till the ribbing. How old will be the one wearing? if it's just a little smaller than toddler then yes you can just use a smaller hook or a lighter yarn...

      12mos-1 year old.
      Do Round 5.
Round 6. HDC in the first 8 stitches and 2 HDC in next. Repeat this pattern and you'll end up with 50 HDC. Then proceed to Round 7.
