Time flies so fast, half of the world is now experiencing spring. But here in the Philippines, it's almost summer already. So I better do my summer projects already, but before that Spring is the season right now, although the Philippines don't have 4 seasons we still acknowledge it.
So for here is a beautiful Spring Hat for you all. The stitch is done inside out and you need to flip out the hat after it is finished to have those beautiful "bumps". The stitch is called Cobblestone Stitch, but I am not sure since some Cobblestone stitch is not done this way. Well, anyway here it is I hope you will love this one and enjoy making it.

Notes:
A little tip on making the ribbing, make your slip stitches a little lose, so that it will be easy to make slip stitches on them also, but don’t make it too lose also.
Do all slip stitches in the Back Loop Only (BLO)
( 132/2 =66 + 14 = 80 SC) This is how I came up with my round one counting. So regardless of the number of rows you’ve come up with your ribbing, just divide it by 2 then add 14, that will be the number of SC in your Round 1. Keep in mind the number of rows in your ribbing should be a multiple of 4 so that you will always end up with an even number for your Round 1 in the Body of your Hat.
Instructions
Ribbing
Row 1. CH 11, slip stitch in the 2nd chain from the hook and in all CHs until the end, CH 1 and turn. (10 slip stitches)
R2-R132. Slip stitch in the first stitch and in all the next stitches until the end, CH 1 and turn. Do all slip stitches in the BLO (10 slip stitches.)
Repeat in every row until when you measure your ribbing without stretching it, it will be 15 inches. I reached 132 rows of slip stitches.
This ribbing will be really stretchy. You can make this hat for any size of the head just measure the head, then deduct 6 inches from the measurement of your head circumference, then that will be the size of your ribbing without stretching it. Example: Head circumference is 21 inches – 6 inches = 15 inches ( the size of your ribbing without stretching it.)
Join both ends of the ribbing with slip stitches also. For the body of the hat, we will be working on the wrong side. So do not turn your work. Just continue working in rounds on the wrong side.
Body of the Hat
Round 1. CH 1. Squeeze in 80 SCs into the ribbing. Join with a slip stitch on the first stitch.(80 SC)
R2. CH 1, the SC in the first stitch. * TC in next and SC in the next stitch.*. Repeat this pattern all the way around and join with a slip stitch in the first stitch. (40 SC, 40 TC)
R3. CH 1, SC in each stitch all the way around, then join with a slip stitch in the first stitch. (80 SC)
R4. CH1, TC in first stitch *SC in next, TC in next stitch*. Repeat this pattern all the way around and join with a slip stitch in the first stitch. ( 40 TC, 40 SC)
R5. CH 1, SC in each stitch all the way around, then join with a slip stitch in the first stitch. (80 SC)
Repeat Round 2 up to Round 5 until you reach Round 26. You can also add more rows if you want it to be very slouchy. Round 27 onwards will be the decreasing rows.
R27. CH 1, SC in the first 6 stitches. * SC dec twice, SC in the next 6 stitches* Repeat this pattern all the way around and join with a slip stitch in the first stitch. (64 SC)
R28. CH1, TC in first stitch *SC in next, TC in next stitch*. Repeat this pattern all the way around and join with a slip stitch in the first stitch. ( 32 TC, 32 SC)
R29. CH 1, SC in the first 4 stitches. * SC dec twice, SC in the next 4 stitches* Repeat this pattern all the way around and join with a slip stitch in the first stitch. (48 SC)
R30. CH 1, the SC in the first stitch. * TC in next and SC in the next stitch.*. Repeat this pattern all the way around and join with a slip stitch in the first stitch. (24 SC, 24 TC)
R31. CH 1, SC in the first 2 stitches. * SC dec twice, SC in the next 2 stitches* Repeat this pattern all the way around and join with a slip stitch in the first stitch. (32 SC)
R32. CH1, TC in first stitch *SC in next, TC in next stitch*. Repeat this pattern all the way around and join with a slip stitch in the first stitch. ( 16 TC, 16 SC)
R33. CH 1, SC dec all the way until the end. Join with a slip stitch in the first stitch. ( 16 SC)
Flip your hat inside out to see all those " bumps". That is now the right side of your hat. Then cut yarn and leave a long tail. Run through all the stitches and cinch closed the top of your hat.
If you want to add a flower to your hat I have here a Flower Pattern- Simple Spring Flower
