I'm back!!

Gosh! It's been ages! I haven't been making any entries for so long! My last entry was July 30?!
Things got really busy these days. But I did not stop crocheting. I have so many projects on hand and finished quite a few for the last four months. I just don't have the time to write because I was caught up on something.
But here I am again. I will try again to write and post it here. I miss this blog. I miss writing about my adventures in crafting, baking, crocheting and anything else that interest me.

I've been doing this for quite some time. It's my stress reliever at the end of the day. And I found a very good giveaway at Moogly's. I didn't know that Tamara is into this also. I think creative minds think the same. Go ahead over there it's open worldwide.

So I hope that from now on, I'll be back posting again.

Don't forget to share on  facebook,  pinterest , twitter and more... Please bear with my pictures, I just took them using my phone. Thanks!

We Are To Overcome As Christ Overcame

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. John 16:33.
Satan made stronger attacks upon Christ than he will ever make upon us. There was much at stake with him, whether Christ or himself should be conqueror. If Christ resisted his most powerful temptations, and Satan did not succeed in leading Him to sin, he knew that he must lose his power, and finally be punished with everlasting destruction. Therefore Satan worked with mighty power to lead Christ to do a wrong action, for then he would gain advantage over Him. . . . You can never be tempted in so determined and cruel manner as was our Saviour. Satan was upon His path every moment.
Will man take hold of divine power, and with determination and perseverance resist Satan, as Christ has given him example in His conflict with the foe in the wilderness of temptation? God cannot save man against his will from the power of Satan’s artifices. Man must work with his human power, aided by the divine power of Christ, to resist and to conquer at any cost to himself. In short, man must overcome as Christ overcame. And then, through the victory that it is his privilege to gain by the all-powerful name of Jesus, he may become an heir of God and joint-heir with Jesus Christ. This could not be the case if Christ alone did all the overcoming. Man must do his part; he must be victor on his own account, through the strength and grace that Christ gives him. Man must be a co-worker with Christ in the labor of overcoming, and then he will be partaker with Christ in His glory.
The Saviour overcame to show man how he may overcome. All the temptations of Satan, Christ met with the Word of God. By trusting in God’s promises, He received power to obey God’s commandments, and the tempter could gain no advantage.

Daily Devotional: We Are Changed From Glory To Glory

Daily Devotional

July 27, 2015

We Are Changed From Glory To Glory

But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord. 2 Cor. 3:18.
When enlightened by the Spirit of God, the believer beholds the perfection of Jesus, and beholding this perfection, he rejoices with joy unspeakable. In self he sees sin and helplessness; in the Redeemer sinlessness and infinite power. The sacrifice that Christ made in order that He might impart to us His righteousness—this is a theme upon which we may dwell with deeper and still deeper enthusiasm. Self is nothing; Jesus is everything. . . .
The transforming power of grace can make me a partaker of the divine nature. On Christ the glory of God has shone, and by looking upon Christ, contemplating His self-sacrifice, remembering that in Him dwells all the fulness of the Godhead bodily, the believer is drawn closer and closer to the Source of power. . . .
How essential that we have the enlightenment of the Spirit of God; for thus only can we see the glory of Christ, and by beholding become changed from character to character in and through faith in Christ. . . . He has grace and pardon for every soul. As by faith we look to Jesus, our faith pierces the shadow, and we adore God for His wondrous love in giving us Jesus the Comforter. . . .
The sinner may become a child of God, an heir of heaven. He may rise from the dust, and stand forth arrayed in garments of light. . . . At every step of advance, he sees new beauties in Christ, and becomes more like Him in character.
The love that was manifested toward him in the death of Christ, awakens a response of thankful love, and in answer to sincere prayer, the believer is brought from grace to grace, from glory to glory, until by beholding Christ, he is changed into the same image.

DIY Clay Crochet Hooks Handle

I did it! Yay! At last I did it. I've been contemplating for so long on how to make this clay handles on my crochet hooks. My only problem is where to get polymer clays?! I've seen online, but hesitated to order because it's expensive and I was just thinking of ordering maybe one or two and I think I would pay more on freight than on the clay itself. So I've been running to and fro downtown to look for polymer clays. Then suddenly National Bookstore just displayed a bake-able clay, it's not polymer but it's bake-able so I give it a try. But I don't have much choice with the color, but still I go for it.

And here it is, above is my first attempt to make it. I use my hand on these ones, no special knife, no special mat whatsoever, I only use my bare hand and you can see my fingerprints in there, and I like it like that, because it really has my "markings".  The colors are not so my fave but I really don't care right now. I am just so happy I made it. And it is so comfortable, my hands don't hurt and holding the hook is much easier.

My favorite hooks are Susan Bates hooks, I found online some hooks that looks comfortable for their handles are already big and it has some good reviews already but I hesitated ordering because the hook is not "inlet" like the Susan Bates. I am not sure if I can crochet with it so I am dying for so long to make this clay handles. Now that it is done, I am so happy and content with what it looks like, even if it is not that "professionally done" looking.

I am sorry that I wasn't able to update everyday with the devotional. I guess I really can't make it everyday. Last week was crazy and I don't have much time to blog. So for today here is the devotional for us all to help us ahead and to ponder through the day. God bless everyone!

We Have Received Of God’s Fullness

And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace. John 1:16.
Christ sought to save the world, not by conformity to it, but by revealing to the world the transforming power of the grace of God to mold and fashion the human character after the likeness of the character of Christ.
Satan has represented God as selfish and oppressive, as claiming all, and giving nothing, as requiring the service of His creatures for His own glory, and making no sacrifice for their good. But the gift of Christ reveals the Father’s heart. . . . It declares that while God’s hatred of sin is as strong as death, His love for the sinner is stronger than death. Having undertaken our redemption, He will spare nothing, however dear, which is necessary to the completion of His work. No truth essential to our salvation is withheld, no miracle of mercy is neglected, no divine agency is left unemployed. Favor is heaped upon favor, gift upon gift. The whole treasury of heaven is open to those He seeks to save. Having collected the riches of the universe, and laid open the resources of infinite power, He gives them all into the hands of Christ, and says, All these are for man. Use these gifts to convince him that there is no love greater than Mine in earth or heaven. His greatest happiness will be found in loving Me.
The Father appreciates every soul whom His Son has purchased by the gift of His life. Every provision has been made for us to receive divine power, which will enable us to overcome temptations. Through obedience to all God’s requirements the soul is preserved unto eternal life.
God has a heaven full of blessings that He wants to bestow on those who are earnestly seeking for that help which the Lord alone can give.

Daily Devotional Day 2

Daily Devotional

July 14, 2015

We Are Purified As Christ Is Pure

And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure. 1 John 3:3.
Christ would elevate and refine man's mind, purifying it from all dross, that he may appreciate the love that is without a parallel.
Through repentance, faith, and good works he may perfect a righteous character, and claim, through the merits of Christ, the privileges of the sons of God. The principles of divine truth, received and cherished in the heart, will carry us to a height of moral excellence that we had not deemed it possible for us to reach. . . . " And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure."
Holiness of heart and purity of life were the great subjects of the teachings of Christ. In His sermon on the mount, after specifying what must be done in order to be blessed, and what must not be done, He says, "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect." Perfection, holiness,-nothing short of this would give them success in carrying out the principles He had given them. Without this holiness, the human heart is selfish, sinful, and vicious. Holiness will lead its possessor to be fruitful, and abound in all good works. He will never become weary in well-doing; neither look for promotion in this world; but he will look forward to be promoted by the Majesty of heaven when He shall exalt His sanctified and holy ones to His throne. . . . Holiness of heart will produce right actions.
As God is pure in His sphere, so man is to be pure in his. And he will be pure if Christ is formed within, the hope of glory; for he will imitate Christ's life and reflect His character.
The princely dignity of the Christian character will shine forth as the sun, and the beams of light from the face of Christ will be reflected upon those who have purified themselves even as He is pure.
Purity of heart will lead to purity of life.

Granny Square Pillow Case

I've been crocheting granny square lately. I used to avoid it because it just doesn't have an appeal to me. But then something tragic happened. I found out on facebook about the death of Wink of A Creative Being. Although I don't really follow her blog before or even visited it, but I do see here creations all the time on  Pinterest. So I go and search her blog, my oh my, I was so in regret that I didn't even know her blog before. It got so many beautiful crochet creations the colors are bursting and it made me more sad because she is no longer here so there will be no more crochet creations from her. So, as I scan her blog I stumble upon her Granny Square Cushion Cover. I was inspired and made my own granny square, from then on I love granny square already. So here is my first attempt to make something out of my granny's.

I made four granny squares using Red Heart's Creme dela creme in Cherry blossom. I attached the four squares using Petals to Picots technique in joining squares.  And of course Wink's granny square, I make it bigger by crocheting more rounds, I stop at round seven. And here is the back of my case. I used a different yarn on this and it is also smaller than the creme dela creme.  I can't remember how many rounds was this, I just stop when the measurement was the same with my four squares joined together.
So I hope you like this case. I always remember Wink when I see this pillow in my bed. I am thankful to her for inspiring me although it is already too late for that. And I am sad that she is not here anymore. She is INDEED A VERY CREATIVE BEING.  One things for sure, even if she is no longer here, I will still be visiting her blog all the time.

We Are Called The Sons Of God

Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not; because it knew him not. 1 John 3:1.
As John thought of the love of Christ, he was led to exclaim, "Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God."
People think it a privilege to see a royal personage, and thousands go great distances to see one. How much greater privilege it is to be sons and daughters of the Most High. What greater privilege could be conferred on us than to be given entrance into the royal family?
In order to become the sons and daughters of God, we must separate from the world. "Come out from among them, and be ye separate," the Lord says, "and I will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters." . . .
There is a heaven before us, a crown of life to win. But to the overcomer only is the reward given. He who gains heaven must be clothed with the robe of righteousness. "Every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure." In the character of Christ there was no discord of any kind. And this must be our experience. Our lives must be controlled by the principles that controlled His life.
Through the perfection of the sacrifice given for the guilty race, those who believe in Christ, coming unto Him, may be saved from eternal ruin. . . .
Let no one be so deluded by the enemy as to think that it is a condescension for any man, however talented or learned or honored, to accept Christ. Every human being should look to heaven with reverence and gratitude, and exclaim with amazement, "Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God."

Hats

I've been making a few hats that I've found around the internet. Below are the actual hats that I've made and links of their pattern.

1.The Downtown Style Cloche Hat
I use Red Heart Love and Red heart soft for the flowers.

I crochet the men's beanie on this pattern. There are two beanie pattern and you can make them both for a couple you know that would love this. Or you can make it also for some single individual. Again I use Red heart soft on my beanie.

Now this one I've been trying to make for some time. But I could not find a bulky yarn here. Luckily I found one online. I use Lionbrand Hometown in French Berry  and it came out a little bigger but I still like it.

All around bag

I call this my All Around Bag. Because I use this bag anywhere. From my son's snacks to my crochet materials to my son's clothes. Usually I use this when we will go somewhere. I either stack this with my son's clothes or their snacks.
Here is an example on how it looks like when it is full with my son's clothing. I use this when we went to a friends birthday party. It is very far so I kind of bring some extra clothes for my toddler and also for my eldest. So here is the pattern below, it is so easy anyone can do it:

All Around Bag Pattern.

Materials:

Worsted Yarn any color you like. Here I use green and black. I change color every two rounds
H hook/5mm
 Tapestry needle
some ribbon

Pattern:
Make a Magic Ring

R1: With the black yarn, chain 2 and make 11 Half Double Crochet (hdc) on the ring. Pull the ring tight and join with a slip stitch (sl) on the first hdc.

R2: Chain 2 and make 2 hdc on the same stitch as joining and on each of the stitch around and join with a sl on the top of the first hdc.
R3: Chain 2 and make 2 hdc on the same stitch as joining, then 1 hdc on the next stitch. Then 2 hdc on the next stitch and 1 hdc on the next, continue till the end of the round. And join with a sl on top of the first hdc.
R4: Chain 2 and make 2 hdc on the same stitch as joining, then 1 hdc on each of the next 2 stitches. Then 2 hdc on the next stitch and 1 hdc on each of the next 2 stitches, continue till the end of the round. And join with a sl on top of the first hdc.
R5:  Chain 2 and make 2 hdc on the same stitch as joining, then 1 hdc on each of the next 2 stitches. Then 2 hdc on the next stitch and 1 hdc on each of the next 2 stitches, continue till the end of the round. And join with a sl on top of the first hdc.
R6: Chain 2 and make 2 hdc on the same stitch as joining, then 1 hdc on each of the next 3 stitches. Then 2 hdc on the next stitch and 1 hdc on each of the next 3 stitches, continue till the end of the round. And join with a sl on top of the first hdc.
R7: Chain 2 and make 2 hdc on the same stitch as joining, then 1 hdc on each of the next 4 stitches. Then 2 hdc on the next stitch and 1 hdc on each of the next 4 stitches, continue till the end of the round. And join with a sl on top of the first hdc.
R8: Chain 2 and make 2 hdc on the same stitch as joining, then 1 hdc on each of the next 5 stitches. Then 2 hdc on the next stitch and 1 hdc on each of the next 5 stitches, continue till the end of the round. And join with a sl on top of the first hdc.

*Continue on adding more rounds depending on your choice of how big your bag will be. Just remember to increase the stitches  in between those 2 hdc in every round. For mine I stop on the the eight round.

R9 (or whatever round you are now): With the green yarn chain 2, then 1 hdc on the same stitch as joining. Then 1 hdc again on each of the stitch around and join with a sl on top of the first hdc.
R10: Change to black yarn then chain 2, 1 double crochet(dc)on the same stitch as joining. Then 1 dc again on each of the stitch around and join with a sl on top of the first dc.
R11: Repeat round 10.
R12: With the green yarn chain 2, then 1 dc on the same stitch as joining. Then 1 dc again on each of the stitch around and join with a sl on top of the first dc.
R13: Repeat round 12.
R14-R27 : Repeat round 10-13. You can continue again to add more rows if you want a longer bag.
R28:  Repeat R9: only with black yarn
R29: chain 4, 1 Treble Crochet(tr)on the same stitch as joining. Then 1 tr again on each of the stitch around and join with a sl on top of the first tr.
R30-32: Repeat round 29.
R33: chain 1, then single (sc) on the same stitch as joining, then 1 sc on each of the stitch around. Join with a sl on top of the first sc. Fasten off and weave all ends.
Insert the ribbon of your choice on Round 28.

So that's it. I hope you have fun making your bag. If you have any clarifications or suggestions please write a comment below.

Basic crochet stitches part 2

So here is the continuation of my basic crochet stitches tutorial. Sorry that I wasn't able to post this immediately after the first one. Today I'm going to show you how to do Half double crochet (hdc) and Double Crochet (dc).

1. Half Double Crochet (hdc)
First is yarn over
Insert your hook to the next stitch and yarn over again
Then pull up the loop. Now you will
have 3 loops on your hook
and yarn over again.
The pull through all three (3) stitches together.
That's how you make your half double crochet (hdc)
2. Double Crocher (dc)
Same as the half double crochet, you will start your stitch with a yarn over.
Then insert your hook on the indicated stitch.
And pull up a loop. Now you will have 3 loops on your hook
Then yarn over again

And pull through only two loops. Then Yarn over again
And pull through all remaining two loops on your hook. Now you just
made a double crochet.

So that's how you make your half double crochet and double crochet. I'll stop here because for me these are the basic stitches of a crochet. If you know something else please comment below.  Next time maybe I can make another post on some not so basic stitches. In my next post I will be posting a project I made using all of this stitches.

Basic Crochet Stitches Part 1

Here are the abbreviations of the stitches I usually use. All terms used are in US terms:

sc - single crochet
hdc - half double crochet
dc - double crochet
tr- treble crochet
st - stitch
sl - slip stitch
ch - chain

Let's start first with the basic ones. Here I'm gonna have a picture tutorial of chain and single crochet. I will make on another entry the other stitches.

Chain (ch) - the most basic crochet stitch. You usually make this in almost all of your crochet projects. This is basically the starting stitch.
Place your hook and yarn as above.
 Yarn over
And pull through. Now you've made your first chain.
Just keep on yarning over and pull through the yarn to make more chains
That's how you make a chain/s.

Single Crochet (sc) - Basic crochet stitch also but this one is "taller" than the chain. And you usually make this on the chain.
Insert your hook on the chain. Usually it is the 2nd chain from your hook. And
yarn over and pull through.
After that you will now have two loops on your hook.
Now yarn over again and pull through all two loops.
Now that's a single crochet.
So that's all for now. I hope you can understand what I am trying to say here. And I hope also that you will love crochet. I will make another entry for the the other stitches. I wish to upload a video but it takes like million years to upload a video. Plus I really don't have a good video cam. I am just using my phone. So please bear with me.

Don't forget to share on facebook, pinterest , twitter and more... Please bear with my pictures, I just took them using my phone. Thanks!

African Flower Crochet

This picture has been on my pineterest for quite some time, I love the colors, I love the flowers. And when I searched for it, it is quite familiar to everyone, but I haven't found the right pattern to follow. This particular picture is from Bauta Witch and I think it is on Dutch, I really don't understand the language at all. I keep looking and lucky I found someone who I think has the same pattern and also in English. I found this on Heidi Bears. It has a picture tutorial also which helps a lot. Below is my own version I use Red heart Soft in Lilac,Off  white, Sea Foam, Pink and Light Grey Heather.  Lucky for me I found a sale on Red Heart Soft atGantsilyo Guru. But it will end tomorrow. So hurry and order now. But you can actually use any warn you want and any colors. I will make this flowers into a pillow case. And I will post again on how I join the flowers and made the pillow. Heidi Bears also has a great tutorial on how to join the hexagons but I will post what I did after I am done.  Below is what I made so far
Hope you'll enjoy making this pattern. I find it easy and quick to make. Which is what I really needed since I am always in a hurry.

Jaisha's 1st Birthday

April 10, 2015 was my niece's first birthday, Jaisha. And as expected we bake some cake. It wasn't just some cake. It was a three tiered beach theme birthday cake. It took us 2 days to make it. It was the biggest I made and almost all members of my family join in to help.
Tada!!! presenting our biggest cake yet. We got the inspiration from Buddy Valastro. I think we did a pretty good job on it.  And everyone helped so it was a success.

Hello World!!

Wow it's been a long time!! Really long time. I did not know what happened but when the summer came here in the Philippines, I also when on summer vacation with this blog. I thought when summer comes I would be blogging everyday. But I was wrong, I was so busy, WE were so busy... the whole family.

But I've done so many projects already. Below are some of them and their links to the pattern.
1.The Valentine Hat by Repeatcrafterme.com

2. The Unforgettable Hat by Crochet Supernova

3.The Loopy Love Hat by Moogly
I use Caron Paints with this one in sunset.

4. Olivia's Butterfly
I actually found this one on Moogly's. It's really cute and hippie.

4. Minions! of Repeatcrafterme
My kids love this so much! They want me to make an amigurumi minions also.

5. Pompom Cloche Hat of Hopeful Honey
I made this for someone. She will know when she got hold of this.

Those are some of my projects that I've finished during the summer (Philippines).  I got so many things on my TO DO List and I need to sort them out so that I can actually finish them all.

So for now, that's all. Wish I could really really get this blog going.

I bake Cake

Have I mentioned here that I bake cake also? I do.... yes I do. I love baking and some of my friends love my work so they order some cakes from me. It's not yet a "business" but it is going there. Here are some of the things I had made.  All pictures are posted in my Baking Album on Facebook.  And here is a sample of what we've made.
This is just a cake we made with my sister for her husband. We made it for a short period of time. As you can see it is not prefect yet... I lack so many tools to make it look better. But I am proud of it. So from now on I will also post some of my baking products.

ANGRY BIRD AMIGURUMI

ANGRY BIRD AMIGURUMI

It has been quite some time that I haven’t been able to  post here. I am busy crocheting and doing what mother/wife/working full-time is doing.  And I wasn’t able to post anything here yet because most of my projects are all links from other crocheter/blogger.  I enrolled myself to some craftsy classes and here it is . This pattern is the product of what I’ve learned so far.  I learned a lot from Stacet Trock of Fresh Stitches Most of my classes are from her. I choose to make Angry Birds because my son has been bugging me for some time to make one. But he doesn't want a hat. So I brace myself and made this amigurumi for him. He is so happy when it was done. I made some changes in the button of the eye I change it with bigger one.

This  would be the very first pattern that I made. So please bear with me if you find some mistake or not so understandable instructions. Please let me know if you have some suggestions.

And now he is requesting me to make, Chuck, Terence and the Bad piggies! Wow! Wish me luck!

I made this pattern from scratch. If there are other blogs that resembles this pattern it is not my intention to
copy.   I have never copied any pattern from anyone and post it as my own. I do post a link back to the original if the pattern is not my own.

So that's it. I hope you all learn something and enjoy this post. If you have any questions, comments or suggestion just leave a message on the comment box and I will gladly answer them. Thank you and God bless!
