Red Ribbon Baby Shoes


I never had a baby girl. I got two wonderful boys! Just as I wished for. But my sister keeps telling me that I should have a baby girl because I am always making little things for little girls. I don't know why but I do love to make this little things for little girls, but to be honest ever since the day I dreamed of having babies, all I wished for is to have boys. But I do have nieces, so all those things I made are for them. But this particular shoes that I made has no owner yet, my nieces are past the baby stages already. So this Red Ribbon baby shoes is waiting for it's owner to arrive. 

Materials:
  • Cotton Thread Size 3. Like Aunt Lydias Fashion Crochet 3 in Scarlet and White
  • Crochet Hook C (2.5mm)
  • Pearl Beads as buttons
  • Tapestry Needle
  • Scissors
Size: Fits 0-6 moths. Size adjustment for 6-12 months are in ( ).

Sole Measurements:
  • 0-6 months - 10cm
  • 6-12 month - 12 cm

Stitches Used:
  • st(s)  - stitch(es)
  • ch - chain
  • sc - single crochet
  • hdc - half double crochet
  • dc - double crochet
  • sc2tog - single crochet 2 together
  • hdc2tog - half double crochet 2 together
  • sl st - slip stitch


Instructions:

Round 1. With the Scarlet yarn, ch 18 (21) plus 3. Dc in the 4th ch from the hook, 1 dc in the next 13(16) sts, dc 5 in the last ch. Then let's continue to work on the opposite side on the foundation chains. 1 Dc in the next 13 (16)  sts, 2 dc in the last ch. Sl st in the first dc. 
Round 2.  Chain 1, hdc 2 in the first st. Hdc in the next 13 (16) sts. Hdc 2 in the next 5 sts, hdc in the next 13 (16) sts, hdc 2 in each of the last 2 sts. Sl in the first hdc.
Round 3. Chain 1, hdc in the first st, hdc 2 in the next st. Hdc in the next 13 (16) sts.,*hdc 1 in the next st., hdc 2 into the next st* repeat 5 times. Hdc in the next 13 (16) sts, *hdc 1 , hdc 2 into the next st* repeat twice. Sl st in the first st of this round
Round 4. Chain 1, 1 hdc in each of the first 2 sts, hdc 2 in the next st. Hdc in the next 13 (16) sts., *hdc 1 in the next 2 sts, hdc 2 into the next st* repeat 5 times. Hdc in the nex 13 (16) sts, *hdc into the next 2 sts, hdc 2 in the next st*. Repeat twice. Sl st in the first st of this round.
Round 5. Chain 1, sc all the way on the back loops only of the previous round. Sl st in the first st of this round.


  





Round 6. Chain 2, dc on both loops all the way till the last st. Sl st in the first st of this round.
Round 7.  Chain 1 , sc2tog, hdc 15 (18)  in the next sts. *hdc in the next 2 sts, hdc2tog* repeat 5 times. Hdc 13 (16), *hdc in the next 2 sts, hdc2tog* repeat twice. Sl st in the first st of this round.
Round 8. Chain 1, hdc in the next 16 (19), *hdc, hdc2tog* repeat 5 times. Hdc 19 (22). Sl st in the first st of this round.
Round 9. (right shoe) Chain1, sc 12 (15), then Chain 10 plus 8, then sl st on the 8th st from the hook to form a loop. Then sc 10 all the way back to the top of the shoes. This will be your strap with a buttonhole. Continue to sc 5, then sc2tog 5 times. Then sc 16 (19), sl st in the first st of this round.


Round 9 (left shoe). Chain 1, sc 16 (19), sc2tog five times, sc 5. Chain 10 plus 8, sl st on the 8th chain, sc 10 down to the top of the shoe. Continue to sc 12 (15). Sl st in the first st of this round.
Round 10. Attached your white thread at the beginning of Round 9 with a sl st. Chain 1 and SC all the way up to your straps to your buttonhole. When you reach the buttonhole make 15 sc into the button hole and continue to sc down until the end. Sl st in the first st of this round.

Ribbon: 
Row 1. Chain 7, sc in the 2nd st from the hook. sc to end. Chain 1 and turn.
Row 2. Chain1, sc to end. Chain 1 and turn. Repeat this process until row 38.
Row 3-38.  Same sa Row 2.
Join both end of the ribbon by sc both ends together. Fasten all ends.
Fold the ribbon and find the center of it. I make the center the one where the two ends are sc together. Wrap them with the white thread. And attached them into the shoes by sewing. Just like the one in the picture below. 

I attached a big pearl bead as a button. I don't exactly know the size of this bead. But it firmly fits the buttonhole. Then weave all ends and you're done!

    I make things for no particular person too, I've a couple of baby knits just waiting for a baby to be born to someone I know (love baby knitting, so quick with those little pieces!)
